Equipment

The Equipment form is used to keep track of equipment used by the department. Most of the fields can be used to store whatever you want. For example, Original cost could be price per unit or total cost for all, but it would be best to consistently enter the data one way or the other. At the bottom of the form is where you can keep track of service schedules and the cost of the service for each piece of equipment.

There is a second purpose for this form. A lot of equipment is issued to each firefighter. Rather than fill the Equipment table with all of the items issued to the personnel, only the general categories are stored here. The individual pieces of equipment are tracked using the Personnel Equipment form as indicated on the Personnel page. That form has a button that will add the default equipment to each new fire fighter. All equipment on the Equipment form showing above, that has a check in the Default Fire Fighter Equipment box, will be copied to the Personnel Equipment form when its Add Defaults button is clicked. As well, much of the equipment that was issued to them, like bunker coats and pants are assigned an OFMD number and need to be cleaned and repaired on a regular basis. If the item in the Equipment form above has a check in the Gear gets cleaned box then an OFMD number will be required.
