Changes

Introduction

As a measure to clean up the data, these two forms have been created. Since Ontario and other places have banned pitbulls, it is important to be able to get a list of animals by breed, like the one available per property in the Property Management system. Of course, clean data is required first. Similarly, since the locations are used in the Locations/Walking report, erroneous data would render the walking report useless. Because both of these forms work so similarly, they are described on the same page.

Changing Breeds

The screen below will pop up when you click on Change Breeds from the Administration menu.

To use this form, pick one or more breeds from the list on the left. Select a breed from the Breeds list on the lower right. Finally hit the Change button. For example, in the above picture, I selected all the breeds that had to do with Rottweiler cross breeds. The total number of dogs that are highlighted in black are 13. I then selected Rottweiler from the list on the right. I added an "X" to the end to specify that these are all Rottweiler crosses, then I hit the Change button. Now the count for Rottweiler X is 13.  I repeated this for all the other Rottweilers in the From list and put them all into Rottweiler without adding the X. Within a few minutes, I was able to clean up the breed list such that there were only 259 breeds left in the From list box.

The Print button will show you a list of the breeds from the box on the left. As well, the box on the left, the from box, shows both the breeds that are in use as well as a count of animals that have been designated as being a part of that breed.

Changing Locations

Also in the Administration menu, there is a menu option for Change Locations. Clicking that option will show you the form similar to the one in the picture below.

Just like the Change Breeds form above, pick the location names in the From box that should be amalgamated into a single name. Next, select that single name from the Streets box. Clicking the Change button will update the location field in both the Animal and Assigned Areas tables.

You can also use the Print button to get a list of all locations that are currently used in the Animal table. Cleaning up the location data will make it easier to assign areas that are used for the walking report.
